The Redmond giant has now officially confirmed a major bug affecting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techworm.net\/tag\/windows-11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Windows 11<\/a> version 24H2, which is breaking some of the operating system\u2019s most essential features.<\/p>\n<p>The issue appears after installing cumulative updates released on or after July 2025 (starting with KB5062553), causing a cascade of failures across the Start Menu, Taskbar, File Explorer, Settings, and other key shell components.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s Breaking \u2014 And Why<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/topic\/kb5072911-multiple-symptoms-occur-after-provisioning-a-pc-with-a-windows-11-version-24h2-update-d2d30684-4e2b-47f5-9899-a00a8e0acb09\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Microsoft&#8217;s new support document KB5072911<\/a>, the bug triggers on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First login after installing a cumulative update, and<\/li>\n<li>Every login on non-persistent systems, such as virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), where apps reinstall each session.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At the heart of the issue is a timing race condition. Three key XAML interface packages \u2014MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS, Microsoft.UI.Xaml.CBS, and MicrosoftWindows.Client.Core \u2014 fails to register fast enough during the first user login.<\/p>\n<p>When Windows boots, the shell attempts to load these components, which are crucial for rendering Windows\u2019 interface, even before they are ready, causing the entire UI to collapse.<\/p>\n<p>The fallout is widespread:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Start Menu crashes with critical error messages<\/li>\n<li>File Explorer failing to launch or crashing repeatedly<\/li>\n<li>Missing taskbar even when Explorer.exe is running<\/li>\n<li>exe and StartMenuExperienceHost are failing silently<\/li>\n<li>Settings refusing to open<\/li>\n<li>Broken XAML-based UI across apps<\/li>\n<li>ImmersiveShell failing to initialize<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For many, the desktop loads but cannot be used. It\u2019s Windows, without the Windows.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Problem That Spans Windows 11 24H2 And 25H2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While the documentation references Windows 11 24H2, Microsoft has confirmed that 25H2 systems share the same core and can also be affected. That means millions of PCs may be vulnerable to these failures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Microsoft Has No Permanent Fix Yet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Although Microsoft has acknowledged the problem at last, there is still no permanent fix.
